Australia Wedge-Tailed Eagle 2026 1 oz Silver BU
AUSTRALIA'S LARGEST BIRD OF PREY
The wedge-tailed eagle is a striking emblem of Australia’s vast landscapes. With a wingspan of up to 2.8 metres, it soars effortlessly on thermal currents, often reaching heights above 2,000 metres. Its distinctive wedge-shaped tail and feathered legs make it instantly recognisable as it surveys the terrain below. Found across mainland Australia and Tasmania, this powerful raptor captures the spirit of freedom and endurance in the Australian skies.
DOUBLE EAGLE DESIGN
The coin’s reverse features the head of a wedge-tailed eagle in the foreground and a bald eagle behind it. Both birds are portrayed gazing to the right. The design includes the inscription ‘AUSTRALIAN WEDGE-TAILED EAGLE’ and The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark, together with the coin’s weight, purity, and 2026 year-date.
This is the eleventh wedge-tailed eagle design for The Perth Mint by renowned American sculptor and engraver John M. Mercanti, the 12th Chief Engraver of the US Mint.
