Rwanda Nautical Ounce Kruzenshtern 2026 1 oz Silver BU
The Rwanda Nautical Ounce series has become one of the most sought-after modern bullion collections, admired for its exceptional craftsmanship, annual ship-themed designs, and limited mintages. Produced by Germany’s renowned Mayer Mint, each release combines investment-grade .999 fine silver with beautifully detailed maritime artwork, making it a favourite among both investors and collectors.
Today’s “Kruzenshtern” was launched on June 24, 1926, under the name “Padua.” It was the last cargo sailing ship built by the F. Laeisz shipping company and belongs to the well-known Flying P-Liner class. The four-masted steel barque was originally designed without an auxiliary engine and is still one of the largest active tall sailing ships in the world today.
In 1938/39, the “Padua” held the world record as the fastest square-rigged sailing ship. In addition, it served as a film set several times in the 1930s and 1940s.
After World War II, the ship was handed over to the Soviet Union as war reparations, renamed “Kruzenshtern” in 1946, and thus given the name of the German-Baltic admiral Adam Johann von Krusenstern. Since then, it has been used as a renowned sailing training ship.
The reverse features a finely detailed depiction of the ship sailing across the open sea, accompanied by the Nautical Ounce series’ signature compass rose and nautical elements. The obverse displays the Coat of Arms of Rwanda, along with the denomination and year of issue, creating a distinctive design recognized by collectors worldwide.
